Common questions

Where are my notes stored?

On your device. If you turn on sync, they are mirrored to your own private iCloud database — your Apple Account, not a server of ours. We cannot see them.

Sync is on but nothing is syncing

The very first sync needs Wi-Fi. iCloud will not run that initial setup over a cellular connection. Once it has run once, cellular works normally. Sync also needs to be switched on in Settings, and requires Pro.

Nothing is being tagged or rewritten

The rewriting uses Apple Intelligence, which needs a supported device with it switched on in iOS Settings. Without it, notes are still saved and searchable — they are tagged by keyword instead. Capture never depends on it.

How do I add the widget or use Siri?

Long-press the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Unfog. For Siri, say “Add a note to Unfog”. You can also map the Action Button to it.

How do I get my notes out?

Settings ▸ Backup ▸ Export. You get a plain JSON file or readable Markdown. Unfog also keeps rolling automatic backups you can restore from the same screen.

Managing or cancelling Pro

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Deleting your data

Settings ▸ Delete all thoughts removes everything from the device. If sync was on, deleting also removes the copies from your iCloud database.
